The Vertical Soul 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings incorporate techniques, training and practice of asana, pranayama and meditation among other traditional yoga practices with teaching such as methodology, anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy, lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers and practicum. We provide opportunities for students to practice teaching in a classroom setting.  Our 200 Hour YTT will include yoga therapy curriculum as most of our Faculty are registered Yoga Therapists.

Vertical Soul Yoga has been a Nationally Accredited Yoga Alliance School since 2011.  Our curriculum is designed to meet and exceed Yoga Alliance Standards.

We believe it is essential to honor the lineage of yoga and where it comes from, India. To the best of our ability we teach as authentically as we can acknowledging our teachers and their teachers. We emphasize that yoga is a sacred and spiritual journey in our trainings.

Malisa Szalkiewicz has dedicated herself to education since 1999.  Having earned a Master's Degree of Bilingual/ Multicultural Education, Malisa truly has the heart of a teacher.  Once she started teaching yoga in 2007, her entire world became immersed in it.  As the owner of Northern Arizona Yoga Center & Vertical Soul Yoga Institute, she has prioritized co-creating a local yoga community, directed annual yoga teacher trainings, and managed her own yoga studio.   In 2018, she expanded her yoga offerings by working as a yoga therapist with Neurosurgeon, Dr. Whitney James and with local clients in Flagstaff.  Malisa teaches yoga techniques to individuals to help them reduce their medications and stress while transforming their relationship with pain. She is co-owner of  Inner Atlas, a company that offers a comprehensive model for patient care.   From high school gyms to medical offices, she has shared her passion for yoga with thousands of people.
